    About Dominetrius
    ---------
Dominetrius Chambers seemed to be poised for success: the 20-year-old graduated third in her high school class. But the next steps that a middle-class woman her age might take - college, career, an apartment - have proven elusive. Then Dominetrius was introduced to My Block, My Hood, My City, a nonprofit that introduced her to mentors and exposed her to neighborhoods around the city. Will the excitement of new people and places lead to greater opportunity?

The problem is she says she wants to leave the hood but she doesn't want to leave her family. If that's where her family is, she'll never leave and never break the cycle. Education is key - whether it's college or a specific trade school. She can't just talk about it, she has to be about it.

Trade school would be an excellent option for her. Less debt and a much quicker entrance into the work force. I went to a trade school at the age of 17 and then started working. I went back to school and graduated with a bachelors at the age of 40. Paid cash for my college education. No debt.

YOu can start a cookie business in the hood and slowly bit bit turn into bakery just an example, personaly i think the people in this places should focus on small businesses unless you have drive the will and intelligence AND the money to finish college than do so....

Lots of jobs don't need college. College can pull you into deep debt. Junior college is okay though since it's cheaper if can live at home still with a parent. Learn languages on duolingo app for free if someone in the family has an appointment internet connected phone. There are lots of good jobs for bilingual or multilingual speakers. Learning proper English first would be good also like what Clarence Thomas did when he was their age. He realize how important proper English was to becoming successful, even if just in something like elderly care which is a fast growing field with no college required and decent pay.

From what I see, she is not going to get a college degree. The things that she is spending her time on is not helping her get there. She needs to be spending most of her time reading and studying. Really training for college starts at infancy. Education is a given, not something that just might happen. Books not braids are at the forefront of what is important. If her home is not quiet enough, she needs to make her local library her secondary home. A community college in her area might be ideal for her first years of college. She also needs to really want a college education for herself first and to please others second. They seem to be nice young ladies and I hope all of them do whatever it takes ( legally) to lift themselves out of poverty..

Right now there is a shortage of people to take the position of dish washer in restaurants in Chicago. Some individuals in North Lawndale could start as a dish washer and ask to be trained as a line cook. Some line cook jobs have health insurance available with the job. The Blue Line CTA train runs through Lawndale. Also, during the day a bus runs east on Ogden Avenue to Franklin Street downtown. Franklin is a few blocks from downtown but it's walkable. City of Chicago colleges are a possibility for a lot of people in Chicago. I am not saying these young ladies should try to become line cooks. Just telling about this because it might help some people in Lawndale.

Where is the talk of the books she has read? when was the last time they visited a library? Talking about college is just more hoping wishing and dreaming, without the work! Where is the wonder about the planet they live on? How do things grow? How to build something? Where is the imagination? yes she wants to get out of the hood, but where is the work require to do this? she threw away her first chance to do better, for what? To stand around taken selfees? The city bus can take her to different places such as parks on the other side of town, museums, places of Interest, not just more fashion crap. She can learn about other cultures without leaving her bedroom. The TV can be a great leaning tool rather then just clothes, bad music, who can sing, and who can act the crazy's. And who is sleeping with whom? in this Video, not one thing she is doing to change her life, is presented. Talking is not doing something. I'll bet she spent more time on her hair then reading a good book? Her block, what is she doing to leave it? Her hood what is she doing to change it? Her city what is she doing to make it better? Talk Talk Talk!

@@spetit7981 My parents were immigrants who came here with nothing. Basically, peasants from the former Soviet Union. My wife is an immigrant from a third world Asian nation. She also had nothing. We don't come from generational wealth, we come from poverty- our parents/grandparents/etc were dirt poor farmers from impoverished nations. Yet both of us have done extremely well, as have many other first and second generation immigrants of all races (including many from Africa). Watch what successful people do, then emulate them. And even more importantly, don't do what unsuccessful people do. That's the secret to doing well in the USA, not a rich grand daddy handing you an inheritance (neither my wife nor I has ever received a penny in inheritance).
The girl in the video knew what she had to do to be successful. She knew the path to success, was on that path, then threw it all away because she got a little homesick. That's sad and tragic.

I see a lot of people in these series with masks and still huging and getting close to each other. Or with their mask under their nose. What's the point wearing them then?
